The Challenge
Building live experiences on unreliable data
From the very beginning, Leon and his team knew that live data would be central to what they were building. Even as they focused early effort on the prediction pool system, it quickly became clear that users expected much more: live standings, real-time scores, match statistics, and instant in-game updates. Without those, the experience felt incomplete.
The core question became: how do you deliver accurate, fast, and scalable data without building and maintaining a massive data infrastructure yourself? Unreliable data does not just create technical headaches, it erodes user trust. For a product built around real-time engagement, slow or inaccurate updates undermine the entire experience.
"The data quality wasn't consistent, updates were not fast enough for live experiences, and documentation was often unclear or difficult to work with. This made development slower and less reliable than we needed."
