World Cup 2026 Host

The World Cup 2026 will be held in multiple countries. Exactly sixteen cities will host the World Cup in 2026. These are divided into Canada, the United States and Mexico. Since 2002 there hasn’t been a World Cup that multiple countries have hosted. Will Argentina be able to prolong its World Cup title in 2026? They are the defending champions and might be one of the favourites again.

Mexico is the first country to host three World Cups. Mexico hosted the 1970 and 1986 World Cups. The World Cup 2026 makes three World Cups hosted or co-hosted for Mexico. It is Canada’s first time hosting a men’s tournament.

World Cup 2026 teams

Over 48 teams will join the World Cup in 2026. With the new format, the total number of matches during the World Cup 2026 will be 104. As hosts, three teams will be assured their place in the knockout stage, Canada, Mexico, and the USA.

The finalists of the World Cup 2026 will play a total of eight games. The tournament will have 39 days between the start and the World Cup 2026 final. The top-8 third-placed teams in the group stage will join the knockout stage.
