What is the Serie A known for

The Serie A is known as one of the best leagues globally and is for a couple of reasons. The league is seen as one of the most tactical leagues with the best defences in the world. It is the best league in Italy. Also, more players have won the desired Ballon d’Or award while playing in Serie A than any other league globally, except for La Liga. The all-time top scorer is Silvio Piola, with 274 goals in 537 appearances, while Francesco Totti follows with 250 goals in 619 appearances.

Juventus has the most Serie A titles, followed by Inter and AC Milan. Inter is the only club to have played all seasons since the Serie A was established in 1929. Back then, the competition was started with 18 teams. The number of teams has changed over the years. Since 2004 20 teams have been battling for the top spot.
