The Scottish national team is the joint oldest national football team in the world, alongside England, whom they played in the world’s first international football match in 1872. Scotland has a long-standing rivalry with England. The team played at eight World Cups and three Euros but failed to reach the knockout stages in both competitions.

Kenny Dalglish is the player with the most caps. He played 102 times for the Scottish national team. He is also the player with the most goals, joint with Denis Law. Both scored 30 times.

Kenny Dalglish is Scotland’s most-capped player, with 103 caps. With 30 goals, he is also the joint top scorer of his country. He represented Scotland at three World Cups but never came past the group stage. During his career, the striker played 338 times for Celtic and 515 times for Liverpool. With 18 goals in the 1982-83 season, he helped Liverpool win the title; King Kenny won the PFA Player of the Year later that year.

Graeme Souness is a former midfielder. The Scot played the most games for Liverpool, where he was a captain in the early 80s. Over his career, he played for Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough and Sampdoria. After his retirement as a player, Souness became a coach. He led Rangers to three Scottish Premiership Titles and four League Cups.

Andrew Robertson is the current captain of the Scottish football team and Liverpool’s left-back. He made his debut for Scotland in 2014 and made more than 60 caps, and he represented his country during the Euro 2020. During his time with Liverpool, he won several honours. He won the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020.

Billy McNeil is one of the most important players in the history of Celtic. He played almost 500 games for Celtic and lifted 23 trophies. The Scottish defender was captain during the European Cup final in 1967. After his career, he became manager and ambassador for the Club.

Denis Law is a former forward who played for Huddersfield Town, Manchester United, Manchester City and Torino. The striker made the third most goals for Manchester United; he scored 237 in 404 apps. He is the only Scottish player to win the Ballon d’Or. Law played 55 games for Scotland and is the joint top scorer with Sir Kenny Dalglish.
