Ligue 1 teams are known for their competitiveness and the exciting title races that they produce each season. Ligue 1 teams

AC Ajaccio
Was established in 1910. Ajaccio plays its home games at the Stade François Coty and competes in the Corsica derby against neighbouring Corsican club Bastia (Derby Corse).

AJ Auxerre
was founded in 1919 and became professional in 1948. The home matches are being played in Stade Luis II with a capacity of 18,500.

Angers SCO
Is short for Angers Sporting Club de l’Ouest and was founded in 1919. Stade Raymond-Kopa is the home ground of the club. The stadium has a capacity of 18,752.

AS Monaco
AS Monaco is a club that is actually not from France but it’s still one of the Ligue 1 teams.. It was founded in 1919 and became professional in 1948. The home matches are being played in Stade Luis II with a capacity of 18,500.

Clermont foot
Clermont foot  was founded in 1911. The home ground of the club is Stade Gabriel Montpied which has a capacity of 11,980. This means Clermont foot has one of the smaller stadiums compared to other Ligue 1 teams.

Estac Troyes
Estac Troyes was founded when Union Sportive Troyenne and AS Savinienne fused in 1931. Since 2000 the club is called ES Troyes AC. The club plays its home matches in Stade de l’Aube which has a capacity of 20,400.

FC Lorient
In short, Lorient was founded in 1926. In 1998/1999 the club was playing in the Ligue 1 for the first time, but they were relegated straight away. Stade du Moustoir is the home ground of Lorient. The stadium has a capacity of 18,110.

FC Nantes
was founded in 1943. Stade de la Beaujoire, which has a capacity of 37,473, is the home ground of the club.

LOSC Lille
was founded in 1944. Their home ground is the Stade Pierre Mauroy with a capacity of 50,186. Which means they have one of the biggest stadiums compared to other Ligue 1 teams. The stadium was opened in 2012. A great talented striker plays for Lille as well, his name is Jonathan David.

Montepellier
Montepellier was founded in 1919. The home ground is the Stade de la Mosson with a capacity of 32,939.

OGC Nice
OGC Nice was founded in 1904 and plays in the Allianz Riviera. The stadium has a capacity of 35,624. The stadium was built for the European Championship of 2016. The club has won the Ligue 1 four times.

 


Olympique de Marseille

Olympique de Marseille was founded in 1899 which means it’s one of the first Ligue 1 teams and is still the only club in France to have ever won the Champions League. They won it in 1993, which was the first edition of the Champions League. Stade Vélodrome is the home ground of Olympique Marseille, with a capacity of 67,000. This means Marseille has the biggest stadium of all Ligue 1 teams.

Olympique Lyonnais
Olympique Lyonnais was founded in 1899. Since 2016 the home ground is Parc Olympique Lyonnais, with a capacity of 59,186. Before, the club played home matches in Stade Gerland. Olympique Lyonnais has one of the biggest stadiums compared to other Ligue 1 teams.

Paris Saint Germain
Paris Saint Germain can be seen as one of the best Ligue 1 teams. In recent years Paris Saint Germain have been a Ligue 1 winner numerous times. The club from the capital was founded in 1970. In 2011 Qatar Sports Investments invested in PSG. Soon after the investment, PSG was seen as one of the biggest clubs worldwide and is one of the favourites for the Champions League title every season; however, they have yet to be able to win the trophy. The club plays its home matches in Parc des Princes with a capacity of 47,929.

RC Lens
Was founded in 1906. Stade Bollaert-Delelis is the home ground which has a capacity of 38,223. Seko Fofana and Jonathan Clauss are two of the more popular players of the club.

RC Strasbourg
Plays in the Stade de la Meinau with a capacity of 26,109. The club was founded in 1906. This means RC Strasbourg is one of the first founded Ligue 1 teams. The first match of the club was against FC Germania. Strasbourg lost with a score of 7-0. The interesting part is that the club gave up at half time. Two weeks after this both teams played each other again. The full time result was only 2-0 in favor of Germania. This makes RC Strasbourg one of the first Ligue 1 teams ever.

Stade Brestois
 also known as Brest, was founded in 1950. The home ground is Stade Francis-Le Blé with a capacity of 16,000.

Stade de Reims
Also known as Reims, was founded in 1911. The home matches are being played in the Stade-Auguste-Delaune which has a capacity of 21,127.

Stade Rennais FC
Also known as Stade Rennes was founded in 1901. Roazhon Park is where the home matches are being played. The stadium has a capacity of 29,778. One of their main talents is Jérémy Doku.

Toulouse FC
Was established in 1970. They play their home games at the Stadium de Toulouse, which is located in the city. Les Pitchouns have won the Ligue 2 title three times, promoting it to a Ligue 1 team. Toulouse has competed in European competition five times, most recently in 2007, when they qualified for the first time for the UEFA Champions League.
