The Ligue 2 was founded in 1933. Together with the Ligue 1, it is organized by the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP). From 1933 to 2002, the league was known as Division 2. The 20 Ligue 2 clubs meet twice each season in a home and away game. This means that 38 matches are played per season per club.
Bafodé Diakité, Yassine Benrahou, Lamine Gueye, Lamine Fomba, Andrés Cubas, Johann Lepenant, Moussa Koné, Mamadou Fofana, and many other big talents are playing in the Ligue 2. Zinedine Ferhat represents the highest market value in the Ligue 2.
At the end of the season, it will become clear which team will lift the trophy, which teams have earned a promotion to the Ligue 1 and which teams will relegate to Championnat National. The three highest-ranked teams will promote to the Ligue 1, and the three lowest-ranked teams will degrade to the Championnat National.
